Description
Volkswagen - Iltis 183 - Year 1981 Registration number: FK-201-PA Date of registration: 09/03/1981 Chassis number: BA001507 Mileage: 22,152 on the odometer Vehicle registration document: yes Condition: Roadworthy MOT: Yes History: A rare WW off-road vehicle with permanent four-wheel drive, formerly used by the German army and French troops stationed in Germany. This car was designed by Audi for the WW group, which did not have any off-road vehicles of its own. The German army had small DKW cars, as did the French army in Germany, and wished to replace these vehicles with more robust and faster models than their predecessors. The 1,700 cm³ engine was borrowed from the VW Passat, which was slightly more powerful than the Golf and more rugged in terms of durability. This convertible car was seen on all fronts, replacing the French Jeep, and even in major off-road rallies such as the Dakar. The Canadian manufacturer Bombardier acquired the licence to produce the car in 1981, which enabled the models to be exported all over the world. Condition: The model shown here is a reconditioned ex-military version, stripped of military equipment and repainted yellow; there is a small paint defect on the underside of the windscreen recess on the right-hand side. The exterior and interior are in fine condition. The seats are in good condition; only the dashboard is cracked above the speedometer. The soft top is in good condition, with no tears or snags. The tyres are in good condition. All the standard kit for this type of car is fitted: a jerrycan and spare wheel at the rear, and a jack and wheel removal tool at the front. Mechanically, the timing belt was replaced on 7 July 2020 at 21,808 kilometres, and the car has covered 344 kilometres since then. As a precaution, the belt will need to be replaced.
