The car has been modified and is in good condition, both visually and mechanically.
The 1974 front-wheel-drive Volkswagen Golf revolutionised the compact car segment, ahead of the creation in 1976 of a new category of sports cars with the GTI 1.6 (110 ch, fuel-injected). To compete with it, Fiat unveiled the Ritmo (Turin Motor Show 1978) followed by an initial sports version of the 105 TC (1.6-litre, 105 ch), which proved disappointing in terms of performance.
It wasn’t until 1982 that the 125TC made its debut. Entrusted to the master Abarth, it featured a number of specific modifications (drivetrain, suspension, engine) that transformed the Ritmo into a genuine sports car. At the heart of the car is the famous ‘Lampredi’ twin-cam four-cylinder engine, which powered such legends as the Fiat 131 Abarth (World Rally Champion) and the Lancia Delta Integrale. Fueled by twin-barrel WEBER carburettors, and greatly aided by the torque delivered by its engine capacity, the ‘Lampredi’ enables the lightweight Ritmo (980 kilos in its standard form) to deliver acceleration that leaves the fuel-injected Golfs and 205 GTIs in the dust, whilst boasting a character that would delight an entire generation of drivers. The Ritmo held its own with confidence in the Italian and European Rally Championships, as well as the Monte Carlo Rally.
Owned since 2013 by a passionate Fiat enthusiast, this 1982 Abarth TC125 Ritmo is the result of a race-preparation project spanning around ten years. Fitted with a striking body kit and Gotti wheels, and with just 2,000 km on the clock since the engine was overhauled, this car is in an extremely sound and pristine condition (repainted bodywork) and has never been raced. It is an excellent project car to finish off; it’s missing very little, apart from a driver! Are you up for the challenge?
Although little known, the 1982 Fiat Ritmo Abarth 125 TC is one of the most authentic GTIs. Created by the Abarth department and featuring refined, expressive and high-performance mechanics, it offers a true racing machine at a competitive running cost. Its attractive estimate falls far short of covering the full costs (over 30,000 euros) and the time invested in a car that has been thoroughly prepared. For any VHC project, VHRS historic competition or hill climb, this Ritmo Abarth 125 TC is well worth your attention
