Launched in 1948, the Land Rover, with its boxy profile and exceptional off-road capabilities, quickly established itself as the universal workhorse across every continent. Whilst its form, dictated by function, remained unchanged for nearly seven decades, several models followed in succession. In the early 1980s, the range underwent a major evolution with the introduction of the Land Rover 90 (90-inch short wheelbase) and 110 (long wheelbase). The ‘Land’ then adopted coil springs in place of leaf springs and a permanent four-wheel drive system with a centre differential. Progress was significant across the board, but – with the exception of the rare and fuel-hungry V8 versions – driving pleasure remained somewhat lacking. In 1998, the arrival of the Td5 transformed the vehicle! The Land Rover Td5 engine features a 5-cylinder design with pump-nozzle injectors, delivering both dynamism and fuel efficiency. With generous torque at low revs and an appealing sound, it gives the Land Rover excellent versatility. From off-road tackling to accelerating on the motorway, nothing can stop it!
Ivoire Troyes is delighted to offer you this 2001 Land Rover 90 Tdi. In the care of a reputable mechanic in the Troyes area, this example has undergone both cosmetic and mechanical restoration in recent years. This short-wheelbase, three-seater model comes in a classic colour scheme: the famous British green. It features a lift kit and is fitted with Dotz 4x4 alloy wheels with tyres suited to off-roading. Special features include: an 8mm aluminium skid plate, protective grilles (for the radiator grille, headlights and rear lights), a snorkel, running boards and a tow bar. The entire mechanical system and drivetrains have undergone extensive restoration using numerous new parts. Both starting and running are entirely satisfactory. The interior is in good condition and also reflects the care taken with its presentation. Despite some corrosion on the chassis, the vehicle as a whole is very satisfactory, whilst examples of the short-wheelbase TD5 in good condition are becoming increasingly rare. The Land Rover 90 TD5 embodies the quintessence of the British utility off-roader. It offers an authentic driving experience, and its engine – which can easily be remapped to deliver more horsepower – is now highly sought after. Since production ceased in 2016, this vehicle has held its value. With its status as a classic already established, this TD5 could qualify for collector’s status in a few years’ time, which will guarantee the value of a utility vehicle that is already exceptional.
