Chassis number: 81735444
Vehicle registration document: //
MOT: //
Condition: straight out of storage
History:
Dodge off-road vehicles were first built in 1942 for the US Army. These light off-road pick-ups were produced in every conceivable variant for use by the US and European armed forces. There was nothing comparable before, nor anything as well-designed as these small vehicles. Four-wheel drive, seating between 3 and 10 people, in versions for transporting small troops, radio units, ambulances, bomb-towing vehicles, etc.
All those that were decommissioned went on to have long careers within the French civil service – at EDF, the fire service, the Water and Forests Agency, and in agriculture. They have been used as breakdown lorries, railway wagon pushers and in agricultural applications.
Condition:
The vehicle on display is a troop and radio variant; it is in good condition but will require restoration as it was used in commemorative events until about ten years ago. It is fitted with a radio which does not appear to be a standard model; it may have been used by the armed forces in post-war Germany.
