Description
GMC CCKW 353 Torpedo – Circa 1944 Year: 1944/1945 Chassis number: 168298 Model: CCKW 353 B Vehicle registration document: // MOT: // Condition: straight out of storage History: This lorry is a symbol of freedom; appearing at the time of the liberation in 1944, it served in the military, and some examples were subsequently used in civilian life to help rebuild the country after the war. The basic model was a troop-carrying lorry, later used for transporting equipment, and was fitted with different equipment and accessories depending on the branch of service it was assigned to, ranging from the infantry to the engineers and the cavalry. Versions included troop carriers, recovery vehicles, command posts, tipper lorries, and so on. The fire service, in particular, used these lorries fitted with fire tanks for many years, as they were all-terrain and had six-wheel drive. Condition: The version offered here is Lot 7, a recovery truck with its rear boom and a fully functional Victory hoist. It was inspected at the ERGM in Neuvy Pailloux, 36, in 1966 and was probably decommissioned in the mid-1970s. The vehicle was used for commemorative events a few years ago, but requires a complete overhaul to remain operational. Everything must be checked to ensure this legendary vehicle can continue to be used.
