At the turn of the 1960s, the heavy goods vehicle manufacturer Scania was responsible for distributing Volkswagen vehicles in Sweden. As confirmed by copies of documents from the period, it was the Scania dealer in Stockholm who sold this car new in June 1960. Painted in ‘Gris Gallet L440’, it remained in Sweden until 2011, when it was purchased by a German collector. It was from this collector that Guido Hommel acquired it, drawn in by the exceptional condition of this interesting variant. Indeed, the bodywork has never been repainted, the upholstery is original, whilst the carpets have been refitted. Prior to its purchase, the car had undergone extensive work at the specialist workshop Memminger: an overhaul of the engine and gearbox, restoration of all running gear, and treatment of the underbody. One need only look under the car to see the quality of the work carried out. With 89,904 km on the odometer at the time of our inspection, this superb Beetle is fitted with a working period Blaupunkt car radio and aftermarket headrests; it also underwent a valuation in 2024. With its superb patina and fully overhauled mechanics, this Beetle will be appreciated by connoisseurs.
