c.1903 – “FN” pedal cars “A remarkable pram, with an inimitable patina of age”   Fabrique Nationale, or FN, was founded in 1899 on the outskirts of Liège. The company initially produced weapons, before branching out into bicycles and motor vehicles.   The first prototype car was produced in 1899, whilst mass production began as early as 1900. The brand quickly gained a reputation for quality and luxury, and both the Belgian royal family and the Shah of Persia drove FN cars. The automotive division ceased operations in the late 1930s. The pedal car featured on these pages is notable for its age (early 1900s), its build quality (steel running gear, rear leaf springs, bodywork profile and velvet seat, in particular), its incredible original condition, and its FN logo, painted in gold lettering on the front.   This children’s car, approximately 1.40 m long, 66 cm wide and 75 cm high, is sure to appeal to collectors of antiques and classic cars thanks to the features that make it unique.
