c. 1927 – Darmont Spécial Chassis no. 50410 French registration document dated 1955 Vehicle sold without a roadworthiness test “The finest version of the Darmont tricycle, from the same collection since 1962!”   The Darmont tricyclecars, manufactured under licence from Morgan, were built in Courbevoie by Roger Darmont. Having been Morgan’s agent for France since 1919, he subsequently began marketing his own vehicles, culminating in the Darmont Spécial in 1925.   With its incredible performance (a top speed of over 150 km/h), the Darmont Spécial quickly built up a solid track record in racing and became one of the favourite machines of sportsmen of the era who could not afford a Bugatti or an Amilcar.   The Darmont Spécial is an unconventional vehicle with a sporty drive, offering its owners a unique driving experience that is incomparable to other cyclecars and tricyclecars.   The later models, from 1933 onwards, featured a magneto ignition system and a 3-speed gearbox with reverse (a luxury compared to the 2-speed dog-tooth gearbox version).   The example we are offering was part of the same collection from 1962 to 2025. It is in good condition and complete with all its accessories, including its windscreen. Whilst the chassis, bodywork and identification details correspond to a model from the late 1920s, its engine (recently restarted, to be serviced before use) and its 3-speed gearbox with reverse are more recent, most likely following the failure of the original engine (a numbered magneto bracket is supplied). Thanks to its authenticity and attractive estimate, it will delight enthusiasts of this type of vehicle.
