1976 SIMCA 1000 RALLYE 2
French vehicle registration document
Chassis no. SIND17P146992
French origin
- Same owner since 2011
- Restored in 2012
- Legendary model
- Rare on the market
Launched in September 1972 by Simca, the Rallye 2 established itself as the icon of the popular small sports cars of the 1970s. Based on the legendary Simca 1000 with its rear-mounted engine, this powerful version features a 1,294 cm³ four-cylinder engine fed by two twin-barrel carburettors, producing up to 86 ch. To optimise balance and cooling, the engineers moved the radiator to the front and fitted the car with four disc brakes, enabling it to exceed 170 km/h whilst weighing just 860 kg. A true queen of hillclimbs and a symbol of the Simca Racing Team, it made motor racing accessible to the masses by enabling thousands of amateurs to compete at a lower cost. With over 15,000 units produced before it was absorbed into the Talbot group, it was subsequently replaced by the spectacular Rallye 3.
The car we are offering is a 1976 Simca 1000 Rallye 2, purchased in 2011 by its current owner, following a restoration carried out in 2010 by Garage MD, which specialises in classic cars and is best known for preparing vehicles for the Dakar Rally. It has been serviced by the same garage ever since.
Please note that the carburettors and intake manifolds are not original. Those currently fitted are from a Rallye 3. The original parts will be supplied with the car. The current wheels are aluminium; the steel wheels will also be supplied with the car.
An unrivalled symbol of the popular sports car of the 1970s, the Rallye 2 left its mark on an entire generation by combining compactness, rear-wheel drive and a passion for motor racing that was accessible to all.
