Description
CITROËN MÉHARI 4X4 - 1980 Rare 4x4 version Four-wheel drive with transfer box Beige body colour – black soft top French vehicle registration document 69,776 km on the odometer Unveiled in 1968, the Citroën Méhari quickly established itself as one of the most iconic leisure vehicles to come out of French production. In 1979, the highly sought-after Méhari 4x4 appeared, produced in significantly smaller numbers than the two-wheel-drive version. This variant is distinguished by a genuine all-wheel-drive system, combined with a specialised gearbox designed to make the most of its off-road capabilities. Now considerably rarer than a conventional Méhari, it is one of the most interesting versions of the model for collectors. The example shown here is a Citroën Méhari 4x4 first registered on 7 July 1980. Its manufacturer’s plate bears the number 00CE0425. It retains the features specific to this version, notably its 4x4 drivetrain and the specific controls visible on the dashboard. In its beige colour scheme combined with a black soft top, the car has an attractive overall appearance that is in keeping with the model’s dual purpose as a utility and leisure vehicle. The interior features two black front seats and Jaeger instrumentation. The rear section, which is largely unobstructed, retains its folding tailgate and side-mounted spare wheel. The odometer reads 69,776 km at the time the photographs were taken. The photographs of the underbody also allow one to observe the specific components of the four-wheel drive system as well as the general condition of the chassis and mechanical components. Rare on the market, instantly recognisable and far more technically sophisticated than the traditional Méhari, this Méhari 4x4 represents an interesting opportunity to acquire one of the most sought-after variants of the iconic Citroën open-air vehicle. French vehicle registration document – Type: CTTE – Tarpaulin bodywork – 2-seater.
