History:
This time-travelling machine is a 20-horsepower tractor that was designed to provide farmers with a complete range of machinery, from smallholdings to large-scale farms. The manufacturer quickly realised that farmers needed power in the fields and, well before the war, was already developing machines that were very large for their time. The Second World War saw the emergence of new trends in tractor design. In the aftermath of the global conflict, the country needed to be rebuilt, and the rise of agricultural mechanisation was already taking off. Lanz introduced a very wide range of tractors, both with and without tyres, as caterpillar tracks had been marketed both before and after the war, thus continuing the brand’s growth until its acquisition by John Deere.
Condition
This 2016 single-cylinder model was restored some time ago; it starts and runs. It is painted blue, a colour that could be repainted to turn it into the ultimate collector’s item. It is also fitted with lighting that complies with road traffic regulations and features a hydraulic lift. The tractor is fitted with tyres in good condition and can still be used for work or paraded at gatherings.
