Description
1919 FORD T TORPEDO – History: Unveiled in 1908, the Ford Model T is undoubtedly one of the most significant cars in history. Conceived by Henry Ford, it revolutionised the motoring industry thanks to its simple, robust design and mass production, making the car accessible to the widest possible audience for the first time. With over 15 million units produced between 1908 and 1927, the Model T was fitted with a 2.9-litre four-cylinder engine coupled with the famous two-speed planetary gearbox operated by pedals – a design that became emblematic of early Fords. Description: The example on offer is a Torpedo version built in 1919. It has undergone a period restoration, now weathered by time, and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by the Royal Veteran Car Club Belgium confirming its year of manufacture. Its chassis number and engine number match the documents provided. This Ford Model T is presented in an elegant black livery, complemented by original black upholstery displaying a beautiful patina. The car appears to be particularly complete and consistent. It retains its original Ford engine, planetary gearbox, wooden wheels, folding windscreen and all its characteristic accessories. The engine bay is complete and the vehicle appears to have been stored indoors for many years. The chassis appears to be in particularly good condition for its age, with only superficial corrosion visible. The underbody reveals a very fine structure, revealing an authentic and consistent vehicle, providing an excellent basis for a return to working order or a conservation restoration. The registration certificate lists the chassis number 84080, which could not be found on the vehicle. Only the engine number 3222889 has been identified.
