Description
1948 DODGE D24 SEDAN – History:
Unveiled in late 1945 as the 1946 model, the Dodge D24 was part of the first generation of American cars produced after the Second World War. A direct descendant of pre-war models, it featured a robust design combined with the famous ‘Flathead Six’ side-valve inline six-cylinder engine, renowned for its reliability, smooth running and ease of maintenance.
Available in several body styles, including this elegant four-door saloon, the D24 enjoyed considerable success in North America as well as in several European markets. Vehicles destined for Belgium were distributed by Établissements Frondel S.A., the official Dodge importer in Brussels, Antwerp and Liège.
Belgian examples that still retain their original importer’s plate have now become relatively rare and are of particular heritage interest.
