1973 ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER SHADOW SERIES 1 – History: Unveiled in 1965, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow is one of the most significant cars in the history of the Crewe-based marque. Succeeding the Silver Cloud, it marked a genuine technical revolution with the adoption of a monocoque body, independent rear suspension and a high-pressure hydraulic system – licensed from Citroën – controlling the brakes and suspension. Powered by the famous Rolls-Royce light-alloy V8 engine, it offered an exceptional level of comfort, quietness and build quality. Built almost entirely by hand, the Silver Shadow quickly became the global benchmark for luxury saloons. Produced between 1965 and 1980 in a run of over 30,000 units, it remains one of Rolls-Royce’s most iconic models to this day and represents an excellent introduction to the brand’s world. Description: The car on display is a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Series 1, with chassis number SRH15695, built in 1973. The car appears to retain its original appearance, true to Rolls-Royce standards, with its elegant bodywork, numerous chrome fittings and luxurious interior finished in leather and wood panelling.
