Description
TVR 280 S – History: Unveiled in the late 1980s, the TVR S Series marked a new era for the British manufacturer TVR under the leadership of Peter Wheeler. Succeeding the ‘Wedges’ series (Tasmin, 280i, 350i), it adopted a neo-retro design inspired by British roadsters of the 1960s, whilst retaining the brand’s philosophy: lightness, performance and driving pleasure. The TVR 280 S is fitted with the renowned 2.8-litre Ford Cologne V6 engine, producing around 170 chevaux. Paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and TVR’s signature tubular chassis, this engine delivers remarkable performance for a car weighing less than 1,100 kg. Thanks to its handcrafted design and limited production run, each example has its own unique character. Produced between 1986 and 1988 before being replaced by the 290 S and then the V8S versions, the 280 S remains one of the most sought-after TVRs in the S series today. Production numbers remained limited, with only a few hundred examples built, making it a relatively rare model on the European market. Description: The example on offer is a TVR 280 S, first registered on 24 November 1988. The car is finished in a metallic grey colour, paired with a black leather interior. It is fitted with a 2.8-litre Ford V6 Cologne engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The bodywork appears to be complete and seems to retain all its main original components. The interior is also relatively complete. The seats show significant wear and a tear on the driver’s seat, whilst the steering wheel and several trim elements show signs of normal use. The carpets appear to have been recently replaced or refurbished and are in good overall condition. The boot is clean and complete with its spare wheel well. A few minor modifications are visible, notably the fitting of additional speakers and exposed wiring in the boot. It should be noted that the hinge on the left-hand door is broken. The documentation includes, in particular, the British vehicle registration document (V5C), an older version of the registration certificate and a roadworthiness certificate (MOT). The various documents consulted provide consistent information regarding the chassis number, the date of first registration and the vehicle’s general identification.
