TVR 280 S – History: Unveiled in the late 1980s, the TVR S Series marked a new era for the British manufacturer TVR under the leadership of Peter Wheeler. Succeeding the ‘Wedges’ series (Tasmin, 280i, 350i), it adopted a neo-retro design inspired by British roadsters of the 1960s, whilst retaining the brand’s philosophy: lightness, performance and driving pleasure. The TVR 280 S is fitted with the renowned 2.8-litre Ford Cologne V6 engine, producing around 170 chevaux. Paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and TVR’s signature tubular chassis, this engine delivers remarkable performance for a car weighing less than 1,100 kg. Thanks to its handcrafted design and limited production run, each example has its own unique character. Produced between 1986 and 1988 before being replaced by the 290 S and then the V8S versions, the 280 S remains one of the most sought-after TVRs in the S series today. Production numbers remained limited, with only a few hundred examples built, making it a relatively rare model on the European market.
