Description
MERCEDES-BENZ 220 D W115 – History: Unveiled in 1968, the Mercedes-Benz W115 belongs to the famous ‘/8’ series, which succeeded the Heckflosse and helped to cement the reputation of the brand with the star for robustness and reliability. The 220 D version is powered by the renowned 2.2-litre OM615 diesel engine, particularly prized for its exceptional durability and mechanical simplicity. Used both as a family saloon and as a taxi in many countries, the W115 is now regarded as one of the most iconic classic Mercedes models of the 1970s. Description: This Mercedes-Benz 220 D is in a particularly authentic condition. The interior retains its original brown MB-Tex upholstery, door panels, headlining and all its interior trim. Despite a significant build-up of dust due to storage, the interior appears remarkably complete and offers a good basis for restoration. The engine bay is also very complete and appears to be in line with the original specification, featuring its Mercedes OM615 diesel engine, air filter, Bosch mechanical injection system and all its main accessories. This Mercedes-Benz should be regarded as a complete restoration project. The bodywork shows significant corrosion, visible on several panels and structural components, as a result of prolonged storage. Extensive panel beating will be required. The vehicle provides an excellent basis for a return to working order or a conservation restoration for enthusiasts of classic Mercedes diesel cars.
