Description
2002 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C5 – History:
Unveiled in 1997, the Chevrolet Corvette C5 marked a major turning point in the model’s history. Completely redesigned, it introduced a new, stiffer platform and a transaxle layout, with the gearbox mounted on the rear axle to improve weight distribution.
This generation was fitted with the all-new LS1 engine, a 5.7-litre aluminium V8 producing 344 ch in the European specification. Renowned for its reliability, performance and excellent value for money, the C5 is now considered one of the most sought-after modern Corvettes.
The example on offer is a European-spec model fitted with an automatic gearbox and has low mileage.
Description:
This Chevrolet Corvette C5 is presented in a particularly attractive original specification.
The interior retains its original black leather upholstery, door panels, centre console, original car radio and all its equipment. The seats show normal wear and tear from use but remain complete and provide a good basis for restoration.
The engine bay appears very complete and seems to be in its original configuration, featuring a 5.7-litre LS1 V8 engine, the original air box and all its main components. A significant build-up of dust and leaves in the windscreen recess indicates prolonged storage.
When the ignition is switched on, the ‘Check Engine’ warning light comes on and the instrument cluster displays the message ‘INTRUSION NEAR ENGINE’, as well as indicating a suspension fault. The fuel pump is working and the starter motor turns, but the engine does NOT START. Needs to be restarted.
The bodywork is generally in good condition and appears to be complete. The metallic grey paintwork appears to be original or old, with signs of wear, significant dust build-up due to storage and a few localised cosmetic flaws. Panel alignment appears correct on initial inspection. The roof and door seals show signs of ageing. No obvious structural corrosion is visible on the parts that can be seen
