Description
1974 SAAB 96 V4 – History:
Unveiled in 1967, the Saab 96 V4 succeeded the famous two-stroke Saab 96, which had forged the Swedish brand’s sporting reputation. To improve performance and driving pleasure, Saab adopted the robust 1.5-litre Ford V4 engine, whilst retaining the model’s now iconic silhouette.
Renowned for its robustness, excellent traction thanks to its front-wheel drive and remarkable handling on snow-covered roads, the Saab 96 enjoyed great success in the Nordic countries and in rallying, where it secured numerous international victories.
Produced until 1980, the Saab 96 V4 remains one of the brand’s most endearing models to this day, prized for its technical originality, reliability and distinctive style.
Description:
The car on display is fitted with the 1,498 cm³ V4 engine.
Having been stored indoors for many years, this Saab retains its original white paintwork, combined with a particularly well-preserved cognac-brown interior. The interior appears remarkably complete, with its original seats, door panels, dashboard and instrumentation.
The bodywork appears complete with all its windows, bumpers, wheel trims and main trim components. It shows localised corrosion on several lower parts of the bodywork and around the rear panel, consistent with prolonged storage.
This Saab provides an excellent basis for a return to running order or a conservation restoration, thanks to its level of authenticity and the interior’s superb condition.
