Description
1952 BUICK SUPER EIGHT – History:
Introduced for the 1950 model year, the Buick Super Series 50 forms part of Buick’s prestigious post-war range. Positioned between the Special and the luxurious Roadmaster, it stood out for its generous dimensions, high standard of equipment and its famous ‘Fireball’ straight-eight engine, renowned for its smooth running.
Models of this generation feature a style characteristic of 1950s American cars, with an imposing grille with vertical bars, the famous ‘VentiPorts’ side vents and a body with particularly elegant, rounded lines.
Description:
This Buick Super Sedan is in a fine state of original preservation, with a remarkably complete bodywork.
The interior retains its front and rear bench seats upholstered in light-coloured striped fabric, its original steering wheel, its instrument panel and all its main interior trim elements. The interior appears complete but will require a thorough clean following a long period of storage. The windows are present and appear to be in good overall condition.
The bodywork appears generally sound and particularly complete. The two-tone green and ivory roof paintwork is old and shows significant dust build-up, numerous signs of storage, as well as several areas of superficial corrosion spread across the bodywork, mainly along the edges, door panels and rear wings. The chrome trim is almost entirely present and remains well preserved despite some surface pitting. The front bumper has a crack in its upper central section. The bodywork alignment is generally satisfactory, although the bonnet currently does not close properly due to broken hinges.
The engine compartment appears complete and seems to retain its original configuration, including the Fireball straight-eight engine and its main components. It is heavily covered in dust and shows signs of prolonged storage. No mechanical tests have been carried out, and a full service will be required before the car can be driven again.
Overall, this makes for an excellent restoration project
