Description
1973 CHEVROLET CAMARO – History:
Unveiled in 1970, the second generation of the Chevrolet Camaro marked a significant evolution of the famous American ‘pony car’. Lower, wider and featuring styling inspired by European grand tourers, it retained all the sporting spirit that had made the first generation such a success.
The 1973 model is particularly sought-after as it was the last year before the introduction of the bulky bumpers mandated by new American regulations. It thus retains the elegant chrome front and rear bumpers, which play a major part in the purity of its lines.
Available with a wide range of engines, from the straight-six to the powerful Small Block and Big Block V8s, this generation of the Camaro remains one of the great classics of American motoring to this day.
Description:
The car on display is a Chevrolet Camaro Coupé first registered on 10 February 1973.
Imported into Belgium, it is fitted with its original Chevrolet straight-six engine, mated to an automatic gearbox, in a configuration identical to the original.
The engine bay appears particularly complete and consistent. It retains its original layout, including the air filter, brake booster and the majority of its accessories. The engine has been repainted in its original colour.
The bodywork is in a generally satisfactory condition. The white paintwork shows cosmetic flaws, micro-scratches and localised imperfections. The alignment of the doors and bonnet appears correct. The underside of the bonnet is clean and well-preserved, with only a few superficial traces of corrosion around the edges. Overall, the car provides a sound basis for a refurbishment or a conservation restoration.
The interior appears complete and in line with the original specification. It shows a patina consistent with the vehicle’s age, with normal signs of wear. A cosmetic refurbishment will restore it to its former glory.
The car comes with a set of documents including its Belgian registration certificate, a Car-Pass, a previous Belgian roadworthiness test certificate and its General Motors certificate of conformity.
This Camaro provides an excellent basis for a return to running order or a light conservation restoration.
