1956 BENTLEY S1 – History: Unveiled at the London Motor Show in April 1955, the Bentley S1 heralded a new generation of luxury saloons from Bentley and Rolls-Royce. Built on an all-new monocoque chassis, it replaced the Type R whilst retaining the elegance and refinement characteristic of the Crewe-based marque. Under its long bonnet lies the famous 4,887 cm³ straight-six engine, renowned for its smoothness and high reliability, mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox. The Bentley S1 stands out for its exceptional comfort, quiet operation and remarkable handling. Produced between 1955 and 1959 in a run of approximately 3,500 units, it is now one of the most sought-after models in the post-war Bentley range, both for its timeless elegance and its build quality. Description: The car on offer is a Bentley S1 first registered on 24 October 1956.
