Description
ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER SHADOW I USA 1974 – History:
Unveiled in 1965, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow marked a true revolution in the history of the British make. The first Rolls-Royce model to feature a monocoque body, independent suspension on all four wheels and a high-pressure hydraulic system licensed from Citroën, it ushered in a new generation of large saloons combining exceptional comfort with cutting-edge technology.
Powered by the famous 6.75-litre Rolls-Royce V8, paired with a General Motors automatic gearbox, the Silver Shadow offers a supremely smooth ride, true to the brand’s reputation. With over 30,000 units produced up until 1980, it remains today one of the most affordable and sought-after Rolls-Royce models amongst collectors.
Description:
This 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow is fitted with the 6,750 cm³ Rolls-Royce V8 engine, paired with an automatic gearbox.
The bodywork is in poor condition and will require a complete restoration. The paintwork shows numerous imperfections, scratches and old touch-ups. Several areas of corrosion are visible, particularly on the sills, the lower parts of the wheel arches and the wheel arches themselves. The various body panels show significant patina due to a long period of storage, and the car as a whole will require a complete restoration.
The interior also requires restoration. The leather is severely cracked and shows signs of age. The woodwork is badly deteriorated and will need to be refurbished or replaced. The headlining has come away, and the entire interior shows significant wear and tear as well as grime resulting from a long period of inactivity. Despite this condition, the car retains most of its original components.
The engine bay appears complete and in line with the original configuration. The V8 engine is still fitted with its main accessories, its Rolls-Royce hydraulic system and its carburettors. The car shows significant storage patina but appears complete at first glance. No attempts have been made to start the engine or take it for a test drive, so it is not possible to comment on its operational condition. A full mechanical overhaul will be required before it can be returned to the road.
The vehicle comes with its keys and a purchase invoice from Luxembourg. No registration documents are included.
