1985 MAZDA RX-7 – History: Unveiled in 1978, the Mazda RX-7 (SA/FB) was the model that definitively popularised Wankel rotary engine technology amongst the general public. Succeeding the RX-3 and RX-4, it featured a lightweight, front-engined, rear-wheel-drive layout, offering remarkable balance and handling that was praised by the motoring press. This first generation was fitted with the 12A twin-rotor rotary engine, producing up to 105 ch in the European versions. Paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, the RX-7 won fans over with its smoothness, distinctive sound and light weight. Produced until 1985 with nearly 475,000 units built, it remains today one of the most iconic Japanese sports cars of the 1980s and is an essential milestone in Mazda’s history. Description: This 1985 Mazda RX-7 is fitted with the Mazda 12A rotary engine, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. The bodywork is in good overall condition. The paintwork shows a few minor signs of wear and localised marks in various places, consistent with the vehicle’s age and its long period of storage.
