Description
1979 PORSCHE 928 – History:
Unveiled in late 1977, the Porsche 928 marked a turning point in the history of the Stuttgart-based manufacturer. Originally designed as the successor to the 911, it featured a completely new layout with a front-mounted V8 engine and a rear-mounted gearbox based on the transaxle principle, ensuring excellent weight distribution.
Voted European Car of the Year 1978 – a first for a sports car – the 928 won admirers with its comfort, technology and performance. This first generation was powered by a 4.5-litre V8 engine producing 240 ch,
Description:
The vehicle is being presented fresh from storage following a long period of inactivity. It is a first-series Porsche 928, fitted with its original V8 engine and automatic gearbox.
The bodywork appears to be largely complete. The whole car is covered in a thick layer of dust accumulated during storage. Several signs of corrosion are visible on certain parts, particularly in the engine compartment, around the fixings and on some sections of the bodywork, such as the sills.
The black leather interior is complete. The front and rear seats are present and retain their original upholstery, showing signs of wear with some cracking on the front seat bolsters. The door panels are complete, as are the centre console, the dashboard and the headlining.
The engine compartment appears to be complete. The V8 engine is still in place with its main accessories, intake system and ignition system. No attempts have been made to restart the engine, nor have any test runs been carried out. A full mechanical overhaul will be essential before any attempt is made to start the engine.
This Porsche 928 is a restoration project
