Description
1978 MG B ROADSTER – History:
The MG B Roadster is one of the most iconic British convertibles of the 1960s and 1970s. Produced by MG from 1962 to 1980, it is fitted with the robust 1.8-litre BMC four-cylinder engine. The 1978 version is one of the last models produced, recognisable in particular by its black polyurethane bumpers, which comply with US standards.
Description:
The vehicle is being presented straight from storage following a long period of inactivity.
The bodywork appears generally sound. The vehicle has already been repainted in the past. The paintwork now shows numerous cosmetic flaws as well as several localised areas of incipient corrosion requiring attention. Restoration is required.
The interior is complete but in fair condition. The dashboard is severely warped by heat and will need to be restored or replaced. The carpets are beyond repair. The seats are present and in a reasonable condition, but the entire passenger compartment will require refurbishment.
The engine compartment appears complete with its 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine fitted with two SU carburettors. No attempt has been made to start the engine, and a full mechanical overhaul will be essential before it can be started again.
The vehicle comes with its British registration certificate (V5), in the name of the previous owner, who never completed the import formalities. Customs clearance formalities remain to be completed, including payment of VAT.
