Description
FERRARI F348 TS – History:
The Ferrari 348 TS was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1989 as the successor to the Ferrari 328. Designed by Pininfarina under the direction of Leonardo Fioravanti, it is distinguished by its slatted side panels, inspired by the Testarossa, and its removable ‘targa’ roof, a feature characteristic of the TS version. It is powered by a longitudinally mounted 3.4-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine, paired with a transversely mounted five-speed manual gearbox. Produced until 1995, the 348 is now a sought-after model, marking the transition between classic Ferraris and the brand’s modern models.
Description:
The vehicle has been taken out of storage after being in storage for at least ten years. Originally delivered new in Italy. No service history documents accompany the vehicle.
The bodywork presents a fine overall appearance. The alignment of the doors and windows is generally satisfactory and the car appears to be in sound condition. The paintwork looks satisfactory, but several areas have been retouched during the vehicle’s lifetime and various cosmetic flaws are worth noting. The bonnet has been repainted. Its clear coat now shows significant heat-related deterioration, with a matt and cracked appearance in the centre. The front bumper has several stone chips as well as scuff marks beneath its lower lip. A slight crack is also visible in the lower right-hand corner. The front left wing and the left-hand door appear to retain their original paintwork. The door has a few light scratches from normal wear and tear but no major defects. The left rear wing has been repainted. There is a noticeable difference in colour compared with the adjacent parts, and cracking of the paint is visible at the junction with the roof pillar; this defect is also evident on the other side of the vehicle. The bonnet appears to retain its original paintwork. There are several chips of paint on its rear edge, as well as a few superficial scratches. The right-hand rear wing shows localised cracking at the junction with the roof pillar. The right-hand door, which appears to have its original paintwork, has a slight dent on its upper section as well as some signs of wear. The front right wing has been repainted and shows a slight difference in colour compared with the door. Some mismatches are visible depending on the lighting. The lower parts of the sills show some superficial scuff marks on their undersides. The original alloy wheels are fitted to all four wheels. They have several scratches and chips on the rims. The wheel nuts show slight surface oxidation. The tyres still have satisfactory tread depth but have cracks on the sidewalls and date from 2003. It is recommended that they be replaced before the vehicle is put back on the road. The exterior seals are complete but show slight signs of ageing. Superficial corrosion is visible around the windscreen opening, beneath the seal on the driver’s side; this area will require monitoring.
The interior is complete but shows signs of wear and tear. The leather upholstery requires re-colouring. The centre console has a missing piece of veneer. The dashboard shows no warping, which is a positive feature on this model. The tools are present in both compartments, as is the bulb kit (see photos).
The engine compartment is complete. The engine bears the number F119G 040 29878. No attempt has been made to start the engine, and a full mechanical overhaul will be essential before it can be put back on the road.
Overall, this Ferrari has a good-quality bodywork and presents a fine overall appearance. The defects noted mainly concern old repainting, a few colour variations, chips, scratches and localised cracks; however, no obvious structural faults were observed during the visual inspection.
The vehicle is sold without any registration documents, service history book or owner’s manual. The purchaser will need to undertake all necessary procedures in accordance with the regulations of their country.
