Description
SPARTAN ROADSTER – History:
The Spartan is a British roadster produced from the early 1970s onwards by Spartan Cars Ltd. Inspired by British sports cars of the 1930s, it is available as a kit or fully assembled, using mainly Ford mechanical components to ensure easy maintenance and a wide availability of spare parts. Its polyester bodywork, combined with a steel and timber frame, echoes the design language of pre-war Morgans and SS Jaguars with its long, louvred bonnet, separate wings and folding windscreen. Thanks to its modest weight and tried-and-tested mechanics, the Spartan is now highly regarded by enthusiasts of British roadsters.
Description:
The vehicle is being presented after a long period in storage. No documentation detailing its history accompanies the vehicle.
The bodywork has a few scratches and chips, and a slight dent is visible on the left-hand door. The chrome fittings show slight oxidation from age. The right-hand running board is missing.
The interior is relatively complete. The side screens are in the car, as is the soft top. The dashboard, wooden steering wheel and main fittings are present. The windscreen surround shows superficial oxidation.
The engine compartment is complete and fitted with a Ford four-cylinder carburettor engine. The main mechanical components are present.
Overall, this Spartan appears to be relatively complete, providing an excellent basis for a restoration.
The vehicle is sold without any registration documents, service book or maintenance manual.
