Description
1957 CADILLAC SERIES 62 SALOON – History:
The Cadillac Series 62 is one of the most iconic American cars of the 1950s. For the 1957 model year, Cadillac adopted a revamped design, characterised by a lower profile, extensive use of chrome and rear fins that were particularly characteristic of that era.
This large four-door saloon prioritised comfort, space and refinement. It is powered by the famous Cadillac 365 ci V8 engine – equivalent to approximately 6.0 litres – mated to an automatic gearbox.
Description:
This 1957 Cadillac Series 62 Saloon is offered in the condition in which it was discovered following a long period of storage.
The car is complete and presents an interesting opportunity for restoration. The bodywork retains its main components, chrome trim, wheel trims and accessories. A few areas of external corrosion are visible, and the car as a whole shows significant patina resulting from storage.
The bodywork is finished in Polo Grey with a dark roof, a particularly elegant combination on this large American saloon.
The underbody shows rust on various metal components and on the exhaust system. A thorough inspection of the floor panels, chassis and mounting points will be required prior to restoration.
The engine bay is largely complete and retains its Cadillac V8 engine as well as its main components. The engine shows heavy patina and superficial rust. The engine has not been started and no mechanical or road tests have been carried out.
The interior is complete but requires restoration. The upholstery and trim are stained, worn and torn in places. The armrest is torn and the dashboard is swollen and warped due to age.
Given its degree of completeness and its elegant two-tone colour scheme, this Cadillac is a good candidate for a full restoration.
The vehicle is offered without a key or documentation.
