Description
2002 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C5 – History:
The fifth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette, known as the C5, was produced from 1997 to 2004. It marked a significant evolution in the model’s history, featuring a new platform and a front-mounted V8 engine with the gearbox positioned at the rear in a transaxle configuration, resulting in improved weight distribution.
Description:
This Chevrolet Corvette C5 Coupé was manufactured in 2002, as confirmed by its chassis number 1G1YY22G225134198.
It features a yellow bodywork in good overall condition given the length of time it has been off the road, with no significant dents noted during inspection. However, a difference in colour is visible on the rear left-hand side, between the door and the rear of the vehicle, which may indicate that certain parts, notably the rear left-hand wing and/or the bumper, have been repainted in the past.
The interior is fitted with black leather, featuring sports seats bearing the ‘Corvette’ logo. The upholstery is complete but shows significant signs of wear and tear, mainly in the form of creases, cracks and scuff marks on the seat cushions and side bolsters. The steering wheel also shows visible wear. The vehicle is equipped with, amongst other features, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, a Bose audio system, electric seats and a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The headlining shows numerous marks and stains resulting from storage and will require thorough cleaning, or even restoration, depending on the outcome.
The vehicle appears to have been off the road for a long period. The brake discs show significant rust, consistent with this period of inactivity. The tyres are old: the front tyres date from 2006 and the rear tyres from 2008. Their replacement should be considered before the vehicle is put back on the road, regardless of their visual condition.
The engine will not start; the immobiliser appears to be active, and the starter motor does not turn over, so its mechanical operation could not be checked and no road test was carried out.
The Corvette owner’s handbook and original Chevrolet documentation are present. These include the 2002 ‘Warranty and Owner Assistance Information’ booklet and old French insurance documents. The booklet indicates that the vehicle was first registered on 15 June 2002. However, these items do not constitute a current registration document.
No registration documents are available.
