Its two-seater closed-body design stands out for its unconventional silhouette, combining a long bonnet, generous rear wings and a roofline extended by a tailgate, in the spirit of ‘hunting estate cars’. BMW itself now emphasises the particularly distinctive character of this model. In its first European specification – which corresponds to the version of our car – the Z3 M Coupé was fitted with the 3,201 cm³ S50B32 straight-six engine, developed by BMW Motorsport and also used in the BMW M3 E36 3.2. It produces 236 kW (321 ch) at 7,400 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 3,250 rpm. It is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive. When it was launched, BMW announced particularly impressive performance figures: 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h. With over 100 ch per litre of displacement without forced induction, the S50B32 ranks amongst the iconic BMW M engines of that era. Beyond its mechanical specifications, the M Coupé’s fixed-roof body offers increased rigidity compared to the Z3 Roadster. BMW highlights in particular the reinforcement of the windscreen frame, the doors and the body structure, complemented by the fixed roof. The model also stands out externally thanks to its wide track, its M-specific wing mirrors and its four exhaust tailpipes. Produced until 2002 with two generations of engines – the S50B32 followed by the S54B32 – the BMW M Coupé remains a relatively rare model. BMW Group Classic lists 3,433 examples to European specification, across all European engine variants, and currently describes it as a particularly sought-after model. The car on offer, first registered on 15 September 1998, is metallic grey and currently has 93,499 km on the odometer; mileage not guaranteed. It is fitted with BMW M alloy wheels.
