Longer and wider than the original Cobra, it was built on a very sturdy chassis to accommodate not only the 429 ci Ford Big Block V8 but also the 327, 350 or 545 ci Chevy engines, as well as the 302, 351 and 460 ci Ford V8s. With these more generous dimensions, the Cobra offered greater comfort; the engine was positioned further back for better weight distribution and could accommodate wider tyres.
