Sale by description: viewable in Palaiseau, Essonne, 91. Please arrange for a flatbed lorry. The car is complete with an engine (non-running), its mechanical components, interior and fittings. We invite you to come and view the car to get a clear idea of the work required. Among the additional parts: 1 bonnet in very good condition, 1 complete dashboard with instruments, 2 radiators, 2 new side skirts, 1 heater core, 1 rocker cover, door panels and a red rear bench seat, rear quarter panel, boot lock, door handles, sun visor, headlamp and wheel trims, front air deflectors, etc.... Glas was a well-known German manufacturer in the 1950s and 1960s, particularly for its famous Goggomobil and its ‘Glaserati’ – a Glas 2600 with a V8 engine and Frua bodywork. The Glas brand was acquired by BMW in 1966. Prior to this takeover, Glas produced some very elegant coupés and convertibles that are highly sought-after today; these included the 1300 and 1700 models with 4-cylinder engines. The 1300 coupé was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1963, whilst the 1700 GT coupé was unveiled in 1965. Production of the Glas 1300 and 1700 GT ceased, and BMW launched a sister model called the BMW 1600 GT, which was based on the same platform. The Glas 1700 GT, designed by Frua, was produced in a run of 1,802 units. There are believed to be fewer than a hundred Glas 1700 GTs recorded worldwide to date. This extremely rare Glas 1700 GT deserves to be restored to its former glory and to shine once more at motoring events, where it is sure to turn heads.
