A SMALL ARCHAIC BRONZE FITTING
Late Shang Dynasty
Of hollow rectangular section, terminating in a horned dragon head with protruding horns, ears and large fangs, with a split body cast on the long sides in openwork with a curved body terminating in a clawed foot and curled tail, the back with stylised scrolls, the bronze a smooth dark grey tone with small areas of green patina, velvet stand.
5.5 cm (2 1/8 in.) long (2).
Provenance:
Formerly in the collection of Louis Lemcovici (1910-2010), thence by descent in the family.
