Dynastie Qing, époque Kangxi (1662-1722)
A BLUE AND WHITE INSCRIBED DISH
Qing Dynasty, Kangxi period
Painted to the centre with a mountainous river landscape, depicting boats approaching the shore beneath overhanging pines, the scene accompanied by an inscribed poem, all within a cracked-ice and prunus border at the rim, the reverse decorated with rockwork and bamboo sprays, the base with an apocryphal Chenghua six-character mark within a double circle.
20.5 cm (8 1/8 in.) diam.
Provenance:
Formerly in the collection of Alexander Constantine Ionides (1810-1890), thence in the family through his daughter Chariclea Ionides (1844-1923), aunt of Basil Ionides (1884-1950), and in the family by descent.
