PLATEAU POLYLOBÉ EN LAQUE SCULPTÉE TIXI PEINTE À L'OR Dynastie Ming, XVIe/XVIIe siècle A FOLIATE-SHAPED GOLD-PAINTED TIXI LACQUER TRAY Ming Dynasty, 16th/17th century Of five-lobed outline, the flat centre painted in gold with a bird perched on a flowering prunus branch surrounded by three butterflies on a brownish-black lacquer ground, the gently rounded sides carved on the inside through five layers of alternating red and black lacquer with undulating pommel motifs repeated on the outside, the base lacquered black. 29.5 cm (11 5/8 in.) diam.
