Depicting the Emperor and Empress, each seated dressed in multi-layer silk brocade robes, the faces and hands of wood covered in gofun (burnished powdered oyster shell) and with applied hair, the Empress wearing a gilt-metal phoenix crown with pendant jewels, each set on a tatami-mat stand.
