Berg et Clèves (Grand-duché de), Joachim Murat (1806-1808). Épreuve en or du thaler, pour le duché de Berg et Clèves, Frappe spéciale (SP) 1806, Düsseldorf.
Av. IOACHIM HERZOG - ZU BERG U: CLEVE. Tête nue à droite, au-dessous signature T:S.
Rv. BERG: UND CLEVISCHE LAND MUNZ. Dans une couronne formée de deux branches de laurier, en quatre lignes : XVI / EINE / FEINE / MARK et à l’exergue (date).

Top Pop : c’est le seul exemplaire gradé ! Provient de collection Victor Guilloteau, puis vente Jean Vinchon Numismatique, collection d’un Amateur d’Art, 7 octobre 2003, n° 72 et Numismatica Genevensis SA 5, 3 décembre 2008, n° 376 [alors gradée NGC PF 63 n° 3160559-003].

Par le maître de Düsseldorf Theodor Stockmar (T:S). Épreuve de présentation en Frappe spéciale (SP) ou Flan bruni (PROOF) avec les champs miroir et les reliefs satinés. Le flan est légèrement irrégulier, mais la tranche, ornée d’une guirlande de laurier, est parfaitement inscrite. Seules des micro-griffures dans les champs et quelques traces de doigts, avec une délicate patine aux reflets verdâtres et dorés, sur le brillant d’origine. Sans doute unique et de la plus grande rareté, certainement un exemplaire présenté au Duc Joachim Murat ! Superbe à Fleur de coin.
Selon le Traité de Schönbrunn de 1805, Napoléon reçoit le duché de Berg qu’il confie le 15 mars 1806 à son beau-frère, le prince Joachim Murat. Ce dernier devient prince du Saint-Empire temporairement avant de faire sécession d’avec le Saint-Empire en juillet 1806, le duché devenant le Grand-Duché de Berg et Clèves. Lorsque Murat devint Roi de Naples en 1808, le Grand-Duché fut intégré à l’Empire et les chevau-légers de Berg, corps de cavalerie légère et garde personnelle de Murat, seront incorporés à la Garde impériale napoléonienne avec laquelle ils s’illustrèrent en Espagne puis en Russie où ils furent décimés

1805年のシェーンブルン条約に基づき、ナポレオンはベルク公国を授与され、1806年3月15日に義弟のジョアシャン・ミュラに委任しました。ミュラは一時的に神聖ローマ帝国の皇子となりましたが、1806年7月に神聖ローマ帝国から離脱し、同公国はベルク=クレーフェ大公国となりました。1808年にミュラがナポリ王に即位すると、この大公国は帝国に編入され、ミュラの親衛隊であり軽騎兵部隊であったベルク軽騎兵連隊は、ナポレオン帝国近衛軍に編入されます。同連隊はスペインでの戦いで活躍したが、その後ロシアでの戦いで壊滅的な打撃を受けました。

PCGS SP62. By the Düsseldorf master Theodor Stockmar (T:S). Presentation pattern strike in Special Strike (SP) or Proof (PROOF) with mirror-like fields and satin-finished reliefs. The blank is slightly irregular, but the edge, decorated with a laurel wreath, is perfectly inscribed. Only micro-scratches on the fields and a few fingerprints, with a delicate patina featuring greenish and golden reflections, over the original lustre. Undoubtedly unique and of the utmost rarity, certainly a specimen presented to Duke Joachim Murat! About uncirculated to Mint State.
By the Treaty of Schönbrunn of 1805, Napoleon was granted the Duchy of Berg, which he handed over on March 15, 1806, to his brother-in-law, Prince Joachim Murat. Murat became a prince of the Holy Roman Empire on a temporary basis before seceding from the Holy Roman Empire in July 1806, at which point the duchy became the Grand Duchy of Berg and Cleves. When Murat became King of Naples in 1808, the Grand Duchy was incorporated into the Empire, and the Berg Light Cavalry—a light cavalry corps and Murat’s personal guard—was incorporated into the Napoleonic Imperial Guard, with which they distinguished themselves in Spain and then in Russia, where they were decimated.
