"Souvenir d'Egypte". 136 albumen prints, approx. 19,5 x 25,5 cm, mounted to the corners on paper, ms. numb. and French captions, 100 prints are signed in the negative. - Sites and views: Philae (11), Edfu (4), Luxor (6), Karnak (21), Thebes, Medinet Habu (8), temples in Upper Egypt, bas-reliefs, pyramids (Saqqara, Giza, Cheops, Khafre), Cairo (c. 46), Alexandria (10). An amusing detail, a fly has been captured on camera in one of the images. Antonio Beato went to Cairo c. 1859-1860 and spent two years there before moving to Luxor where he opened a photographic studio in 1862 (until his death in 1906) and produced tourist images of people and architectural sites of the area with his brother Felice Beato.
