Solitude ou L'isolement. Tinted and enhanced platinum print, full mounted on Bristol board, 28,4 x 8,5 cm, under passe-partout, signature in the margin. Title "L'isolement" and date "1913" on a label from a Dutch art gallery "Larensche Kunsthandle/Afdeeling Amsterdam" on verso. - Fernand Khnopff collaborated with Alexandre, a French photographer based in Brussels, to whom he entrusted several of his works to be reproduced as platinum prints, which the artist then enhanced with colour. "It is not known how many prints were made of each retouched photograph, but the print run was probably limited to a small number (between 5 and 10 copies)". This print is dated 1895 in De Croës/Ollinger-Zinque, "Catalogue raisonné", n.190. A similar version is in the collection of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Belgium. - Ref.
