36 photographs of Italian cruise liners during the fascist era. Silver prints, 23,8 x 29,5 cm and 30,5 x 40 cm, stamps, captions and dates on verso - Interesting and rare account of Italian cruise ships and their passengers during the fascist regime of Mussolini. Photos of identified liners: the SS Giulio Cesare; the SS Conte Grande; the SS Conte di Savoia; the MN Vittoria; the SS Roma; and the SS Rex. Views of a dining hall, a cabin, a living room, a chapel, a boxing match, a fencing game, a party, a concert, sport games on deck etc. Identified people: Edda Ciano, Countess of Cortellazzo and Buccari and daughter of Mussolini, Countess Calvi di Bergolo and the eldest daughter of King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy, the French international soprano Ninon Vallin, etc. Giovanni Agosto was an Italian photographer based in Genoa.
