Engr., 41 x 54,5 cm, hand-coloured (decorative borders partly restored (hardly visible), few tiny marg. spots). - Fourth state of this splendid carte-à-figures, based on Mercator's projection, first published in 1606. This highly decorative world map is surrounded by 22 allegorical border decorations: at the top, representations of the sun, moon and the 5 known planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn), at the sides the 4 elements (left) and 4 seasons (right), at the bottom, the 7 world wonders.
