Large decorative leaf from a glossed manuscript of the Decretals of Gregory IX (Pope 1227-1241). 42,7 x 28 cm, vellum, Latin, 2 cols in large script (45/47 ll.) surrounded by glosses (smaller script) and tiny annot. in open spaces around or between main texts, rubricated in red and blue, 4 4-line, 7 3-line and 12 2-line initials in red and blue. - Comments on i.a. Decretals 1322 (3.45.02) of Gregory IX, but also on decrees of Alexander III (Pope 1159-1181), i.a. quoting from a letter to Roger de Pont l’Eveque (1115-1181), archbishop of York and predecessor of Thomas Becket as archdeacon of Canterbury.
