First edition. This work is one of the classics on the subject. The author sets out the history of the method, followed by the various modes of inoculation, and outlines the precautions to be taken before, during and after the procedure. Pierre Louis Gandoger de Foigny (1732–1770) had met François Dezoteux at the military hospital in Nancy; like Dezoteux, he championed inoculation amidst a controversy surrounding the practice.
