STATUETTE OF A DIGNITARY Carved from basalt, depicting a standing figure with feet together, arms pressed close to the body, and hands resting on his long loincloth. The torso is bare. The head is now missing. On the back, a dorsal pillar inscribed with a column of hieroglyphs. Translation: ‘An offering from the king to Osiris, Lord of Busiris, the great Lord God (of Abydos), that he may provide a food offering consisting of bread, beer...’ - Courtesy of J. Depicted standing facing forwards, with straight arms and hands resting on either side of the body. Legs together. The figure wears a long kilt with a projecting apron, fastened with a knot at the waist. The head is now missing. On the back, a back-pillar with a hieroglyphic column.
