"The artist intuitively interprets the intention of the masters of printmaking: to capture in its transience the sensitivity to things in the floating, transitory world, at once vain and exhilarating. This series, imitating the seductive look and style of Japanese prints, captures the eye and draws it towards the vision of an alarming reality, a topicality contaminated by the absurd. The choice and development of this technique (pigments and charcoal on canvas) preserves the matt appearance of traditional prints. Initially attracted by this decorative style, our attention is drawn to a half-tragic, half-absurd detail that makes our seduced gaze pale: a gas mask suffocates a face, a nuclear bonsai becomes the object of every care, a transgenic bird brushes up against a strange pictogram, a harmless-looking gift packet terrorises the valiant samurai. All these images are those of a falsely controlled world, ready to crack at the slightest jolt. With an apparent delicacy that seems genuinely feverish, the man constructs a disturbing reality, strangely interwoven with virtual worlds.
