Description
PORSCHE 911 CARRERA 3.0. Coupé 1977 Chassis no. 9117600346 Indischrot (Indian Red 027) Black leather interior 5-speed gearbox Buyer's expenses 15% incl. VAT. Presentation : The Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 occupies a singular and deliberately discreet position in the chronology of the 911. Produced in 1976 and 1977 alone, fewer than 3,687 examples were built in all body styles, including 2,564 coupés and 1,123 Targas, making it radically different from the large series that followed it: 58,000 for the 911 SC, 76,500 for the Carrera 3.2. Rarity is not a marketing argument here; it is an integral part of the model. Distributed exclusively in Europe, with no official import into the United States, the Carrera 3.0 combines two of the marque's major lines: it inherits the sporting genes of the 911 Carrera 2.7 RS, introduced in 1972, and adopts the 2,993cc aluminium block from the 911 Turbo 3.0 (930), lightened by the six-bolt flywheel and crankshaft of the 2.7 RS. It was also the first 911 to benefit from a fully galvanised body. Mechanically, the exercise was remarkable: in the absence of a turbocharger, Porsche raised the compression ratio and optimised Bosch's K-Jetronic injection to extract 200 bhp and 255 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm from an engine whose reliability is now recognised by specialists. On the road, the Carrera 3.0 improves on the times of the legendary 2.7 RS: 6.3 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, two tenths quicker from 0 to 180 km/h. Vehicle history : First registered in Germany on 4 November 1976, this coupé is an example of the 1977 series (chassis 9117600346). It remained in German hands for eight years. In 1985, the tuner RUF, an absolute reference in the Porsche world, increased the engine capacity to 3.2 litres, boosting power to 220 bhp. The engine remained 'matching numbers', and workshop documents and period photographs from the RUF workshop accompanied the file. The car was then exported to the United States via the port of Houston, at a declared mileage of 85,000 km (53,000 miles), accompanied by all US customs documentation. It has had four successive owners in the United States, whose titles are attached to the file. In 2014, the current owner undertook a complete and methodical restoration. The body was stripped down to the sheet metal without revealing any trace of accident or structural modification. Nor was there any change of colour: the car left the factory in Indischrot, and it's coming back. More than 300 hours of bodywork, carried out by professionals, preceded a total of 2,300 hours of work. All the metal parts, including the front axle, stabiliser bar, fuel tank, oil tank, heater boxes, engine mountings and wheels, were degreased, sandblasted and repainted before being reassembled. The brakes were completely rebuilt (callipers, discs, pads), the four wheel bearings replaced, the electrical system overhauled, the hoses renewed and the engine insulation restored. The exhaust system was replaced by a Scart Riva stainless steel unit with pre-silencer, for a distinctive sound. The engine is fitted with hydraulic chain tensioners. After repainting, wax was injected into the hollow bodies and the underpinnings were protected. The brakes have recently been serviced (calipers, discs, pads). The car is presented in the condition in which it was restored.
