Whilst the name Reverso immediately brings to mind Jaeger-LeCoultre, Cartier also adopted this reversible case design, developing, during the 1970s, an interpretation that was as elegant as it was understated: the Tank Reverso. Available in single- or double-dial versions and mainly distributed by Cartier Paris, this model is now one of the most sought-after vintage pieces. The example presented here, featuring a unique dial bearing the inscription ‘Cartier Paris’, stands out for its great aesthetic purity and remains the most faithful to the original spirit of the reversible watch.
Whilst the name Reverso is immediately associated with Jaeger-LeCoultre, Cartier also embraced the concept of the reversible case, developing its own elegant and rare interpretation during the 1970s: the Tank Reverso. Produced in both single- and double-dial configurations and primarily sold through Cartier Paris, this model is today regarded as one of Cartier’s most desirable vintage creations. The present example, featuring a single dial signed “Cartier Paris”, stands out for its remarkable aesthetic purity and remains the closest to the original spirit of the reversible watch.
