Description
Far East souvenir embroidery. Royal blue silk rectangle given to a former French sailor. In each corner is a rooster, a tiger and two Indochinese. In the centre, surrounding the sailor's photo, are eight flags including Great Britain and France, surmounted by the words Souvenir de la campagne en Afrique, Extrême Orient, Océan Indien, 1937 1939. Also embroidered at the bottom is the colonial transport ship named Golo on which Marcel Piperot served. Framed piece, overall dimensions 49x54cm. Far East campaign commemorative embroidery. Royal blue silk panel presented to a former French sailor. Each corner decorated with a rooster, a tiger and two Indochinese figures. At the centre surrounding the sailor's photograph are eight national flags including those of Great Britain and France beneath the inscription Souvenir de la campagne en Afrique Extrême Orient Océan Indien 1937 1939. The lower section also bears an embroidered depiction of the colonial transport ship Golo on which Marcel Piperot served. Framed piece with overall dimensions of 49 x 54 cm.
