Description
175. 175W An early 20th century grande-sonnerie striking carriage clock, the case re-lacquered Janetti Padre & Figg, Turino, Firenze, Roma, Napoli The case surmounted by a simple carrying handle over an oval bevelled glass observation window to a moulded top, the sides with further glazed observation panels and a glazed back door, all raised on a moulded base and supported on four feet. The 2.5 inch white enamel dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary Arabic alarm-setting dial, with blued steel hands. The underside with three-position lever for Grande Sonnerie – Silence – Petite Sonnerie. The movement united by four turned pillars, powered by a pair of going barrels, with alarm train mounted to the upper left, also driven by a going barrel with Geneva stopwork. The silvered lever platform escapement with Swiss lever, striking the hours and quarters on a pair of blued steel gongs mounted to the backplate. Both trains currently ticking and striking. 13cm high. Provenance Property of a Distinguished Private Collector
