[LAWS AND DECREES / PRINTED MATERIALS] – 1 fine collection of printed official texts concerning schools and universities, hunting, playing cards, quarries, mines, civil engineering, etc.: laws, decrees, letters patent, orders, royal edicts, rulings of the Council of State, regulations, royal ordinances, etc. (17th–19th centuries). Organised by place names. Approximately 500 documents.
Of note: a royal edict establishing a water and forestry authority in the town of Pau (1738); an ordinance concerning the gendarmerie of the Île-de-France (18 July 1784); letters patent from the King ordering the widening of the Rue de l’Égout in Paris (9 March 1782); an account of the fire at the Hôtel-Dieu in Paris on the night of 29–30 December 1772; an ordinance from the Lieutenant-General of Police ordering Messrs Chevalier and Baillete to demolish, within the day, the plaster kilns built in a quarry at Belleville near Paris (20 August 1778); several laws authorising the directorates of various departments to acquire the buildings necessary for their establishment (1791); royal edicts abolishing several bailiwicks, etc.
